For some time I wanted to do this painting. It is based on an old photograph I found researching for a bookjacket artwork back in 1989. I've used the pose to create my own version of it but I think the 1920s styling gives it a certain resonance.⁠ Later I found out the photo was of the poet Edna St. Vincent Millay.

Presented in a beautiful handmade gessoed frame with an off-white gessoed tray mount.
